Field Maintenance and Mowing
Jerry Scott remains the chairperson of the Field Maintenance Committee. Contact Jerry Scott for information about how you can help with Spring field cleanup activities or any field work that needs to be done. Remember, this is your flying field and many hands make light work for everyone.
Fuel Purchase
Yearly fuel orders will be taken at the March club meeting. Dave Curtis will be taking orders and payment so plan to stock up on your glow fuel for the year at bargain prices.
Jackson Crossing Mall Show
Plans are in the works for the clubs annual Mall Show at Jackson Crossing. We are looking into moving it to latter in the spring so that we may generate more public interest for the child. We have confirmed April 16, 17 and 18 with the Mall. Phil Titus has again agreed to be the coordinator of this event and needs help with set-up and manning the booth throughout the weekend. As more information becomes available, keep watching the JRCC website for updates and lan to sign up for a shift at the Mall.
Don’t forget to bring your display models in on Friday afternoon and evening for set-up. It is also helpful if you can provide a 4X6 display card to show the name of the aircraft, the owner, and a little about the airplane. Let’s make sure we support Phil and the club in this valuable outreach effort.
Show and Tell
Bring your new, old, or rebuild models in to the club meetings for show and tell. If we can get a club photographer enlisted, we’ll be posting pictures on the web site each month of the show and tell models.
Winter Indoor Flying
Winter indoor flying is in full swing at the Grass Lake High School Gym on the second and forth Sundays of each month through April. The gym is open from 1pm to 5 pm and there is a nominal charge of $3.00 to fly. It is great fun and we have been averaging about 8 to 12 flyers at each session. If you don’t have an indoor plane to fly, just come out to watch! But be careful, you could catch the bug and be looking to try some indoor flying to keep your skills up during the winter months. A great bunch of guys come out and can provide lots of advice if you are interested. Indoor set ups can be had for a minimal investment. Thanks to Dave Gray for organizing and supervising these events for the club.
IMAC UPDATE
The Mid-Michigan IMAC Contest sponsored by the Jackson RC Club has been scheduled for June 6-7, 2010. The application for the AMA sanction has been sent in and the contest is on the National IMAC Contest Schedule. Given Tom Mitchell’s recent illness, it is questionable whether he will be able to co-CD the event with Mike Roxberry as was done last year. Mike is looking for all the help he can get especially someone to handle concessions and registration. Larry Noren has again agreed to take on the challenges of scorekeeping for the contest. If you can contribute your time and energies to this important annual event, contact Mike R for more information. Let’s make this the best Mid-Michigan IMAC Contest ever held in Jackson!
